Licensed Counseling for Texans, Wherever You Are
Clinical depth. Real licensure. Available via secure telehealth to clients anywhere in Texas for anxiety, depression, trauma, couples counseling, and more. Based in Tyler, TX, serving the entire state.
The same clinical depth. No commute, no compromise.
Telehealth at Willow is not a reduced version of therapy. Every service, every clinical approach, and every licensed counselor available in our Tyler, TX office is available via secure video to clients anywhere in Texas.
Multiple meta-analyses confirm telehealth therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person care for anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns.
The format changes. The quality does not. For clients in rural East Texas, those with demanding schedules, or those who simply prefer the convenience of a home or car session, telehealth removes barriers without removing clinical rigor.
Licensed counselors, not a platform. Real people, specific expertise.
One of the most common hesitations about online therapy is not knowing who you are actually getting on a call with. At Willow, telehealth means the same licensed counselors available in our Tyler, TX office, with specific training, real credentials, and a defined clinical approach.
Denise founded Willow Counseling Center with a focus on clinical depth over generic coping. She brings specific expertise in trauma processing, couples counseling using the Gottman Method, shame-informed therapy, and the intersection of high-performance demands with emotional wellbeing. Her background includes experience supporting clients navigating religious trauma, women's issues, and executive mental performance.
Madison brings specialized training in sport psychology and student athlete mental wellness, working with athletes navigating performance anxiety, identity, and the pressures of competitive sport at UT Tyler, TJC, and across the East Texas community. Her work also extends to anxiety, depression, and life transitions for young adults and college students.
Every Willow service. Available statewide.
All clinical services offered at Willow Counseling Center are available via secure telehealth to clients anywhere in Texas. The approach, the counselor, and the clinical depth are identical to in-office sessions.

Relationship counseling is the most searched telehealth mental health service in Texas. The reasons are practical: coordinating schedules for two people to attend in-person sessions is one of the most common reasons couples delay getting support they need.
Telehealth removes that barrier. Both partners can join from separate locations if needed, from home between commitments, or during a lunch break. The Gottman Method clinical framework is identical regardless of format.

Begin Clinical Work
The first session is a conversation. We understand your situation and confirm the clinical approach is the right fit. No commitment required until you decide it feels right.
Based in Tyler, TX. Licensed to serve the entire state.
Willow Counseling Center is licensed to provide telehealth counseling services to clients anywhere in Texas. We regularly serve clients across East Texas, major metros, and rural communities where specialized mental health care is limited or unavailable locally.
East Texas in particular has a meaningful gap in access to specialized counseling. Gottman-certified couples work, EMDR trauma processing, and sport psychology are not commonly available locally. Telehealth closes that gap without requiring a drive to Dallas or Houston.
Who telehealth counseling works best for.
Telehealth is not a compromise. For many clients it is the better option: more practical, more private, and more consistent than in-person sessions would be. The clinical work is identical. What changes is where you sit.
That said, telehealth is not the right fit for everyone. If you are in active psychiatric crisis or require a higher level of care, in-person or intensive services are more appropriate. For the large majority of what Willow addresses (anxiety, depression, trauma, couples counseling, grief, and the range of specialized services) telehealth produces outcomes equivalent to in-person care.
Specialized care (Gottman-certified couples counseling, EMDR, sport psychology) is not commonly available in smaller Texas markets. Telehealth closes that gap without a drive to Dallas or Houston.
Scheduling a mid-week in-person appointment is the most common reason people delay starting therapy. A session from your office or home eliminates that barrier entirely.
Campus counseling centers have session limits and share records with the university. Telehealth with Willow is fully private, has no session caps, and continues through semester breaks and after graduation.
Coordinating two schedules for an office appointment is one of the main reasons couples delay getting support. Telehealth makes joint sessions significantly more practical.
If you built a therapeutic relationship in Tyler and have since moved elsewhere in Texas, telehealth lets you maintain continuity rather than starting over with a new provider.
A session from home during nap time or after school drop-off removes the logistical obstacle that keeps many parents from getting consistent support.
What telehealth sessions cost and how to get started.
Willow Counseling Center is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly. Session rates are discussed during the intake process and are consistent regardless of whether your session is in-person in Tyler or via telehealth.
For clients with PPO insurance plans, we provide a superbill after each session. Many PPO plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network licensed counseling services, including telehealth. HSA and FSA funds can typically be applied to licensed mental health counseling sessions. You are responsible for confirming coverage and reimbursement with your insurance provider.
Denise's rate is $150 per session. Madison's rate is $100 per session. No sliding scale is currently available. The first session has no commitment attached. You decide what comes next after that conversation.
What to know about online therapy at Willow
Yes, for the conditions most people seek therapy to address. Multiple independent meta-analyses, including a 2022 study in Telemedicine and e-Health and a 2023 systematic review in JMIR Mental Health, found no clinically meaningful difference in outcomes between telehealth and in-person care for anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns. The therapeutic relationship, which research identifies as the most important variable in whether therapy works, forms comparably in both formats. Telehealth also shows a consistent advantage in one area: lower dropout rates and higher treatment adherence.
